You know you live in a small town when...(or you know your a small town cop when...)

Your kids start school and the teachers already know what dad does for a living.
Everyone knows who you are and what your knickname is, even if you've never seen them before.
People wave as you drive by just because they recognize your car...or not and they are just being friendly.
You have to get a P.O. box because you arrest your mailman.
The soccer coach waits until the last time you see her to tell you...oh by the way you gave me my first ever ticket. Which is not a big deal because you already know you took her ex's car away.
If you rear-end somebody or they rear-end you, you will see them again soon
(this has happpened with the person I hit in January and with the lady who hit us last week)
Every time you leave the house you will see someone you know, and then stop to chat, so plan your time accordingly. (and there is no running to the store "just to get milk" with no make-up in sweats)

There are so many more, but I thought this was a good start... :)

I love it. Big towns can be so cold if your not involved with church or kids.

Sure adds to the interest of your already interesting lives! :)

you can still get milk with no makeup and sweats, you'll still look better than 99% of the rest of the people just running to pick up milk real quick! You also have to plan a trip around the lake with extra time for the tourist doing 30mph, knowing that your on "the list", everyone's business even when it's NOT true, and to be carefull to say anything good or bad about another person because it's a good chance your talking to their cousin... sister... mom, you get the point.

Wow, how do you live up to it all? I mean having to wear make up every day and getting dressed to run errands? Glad I live in this growing metropolis called Bakersfield!
