All Stars

Josh made the 9u All Star 'A' team at Northwest baseball this year.  Northwest plays in the Cal Ripken League, not to be confused with Little League, or Pony League, or any of the many other leagues out there.  As 9 year olds ( even though he just turned ten, the baseball age cut off is April 30, so whatever your age is before that, that is the age group you play in) they don't go all the way to a "World Series".  They will play in a couple of practice tournaments, then play in District, State and Western Regional tournaments.  To get to State you have to take 1st or 2nd in District, and to get to Regionals you have to win State.  I tried to explain this to my sister on the phone earlier today, and thought it would be easier to just write it down. 
Last weekend after practicing together twice the boys went to Fresno for a Memorial Weekend tourney.  They won two games, tied one, and then lost the championship game.  Josh did well, had fun and came home exhausted.
