February Student of the Month

Josh received the Student of the Month award this month.  Each month during the school year our school focuses on one "Pillar of Character" and one "Multiple Intelligence".  Josh was recognized for the bodily-kinesthetic multiple intelligence.  Which means, basically he is a spaz.  No that is not really what it means... What it means is he learns best through movement, he has a lot of athletic ability and some other technical stuff.   His teacher says he channels his energy well, and is always a cheerful helper.  He excels in math and has over 60 AR points in reading, he loves PE and playing outside with his friends. (That is some of what his teacher wrote about him today).
He has issues sitting still, last week he fell out of his chair twice in one day.  His teacher has nicknamed him "Grandpa" because he rocks so much. I am glad our school recognizes different learning styles and tries to gear activities towards them.  Still it sounds funny to say my kid was awarded for being a spaz!
We are proud of Josh and all he does.

Josh and Mr. D, the principal was out for the day so one of the 6th grade teachers ran the show.  Nice pictures huh?  I left my camera at home, and had to use my cell phone.

Good job Josh, let's say energetic and unique....calling him a spaz might give him a complex ;-)
