Report Cards, and Parent Teacher Conferences

The first quarter ended a few weeks ago. There were not any big surprises from anyone. Two (Ryan and Josh) have 1 'B' and then 'A's. They both made principal's list at their schools. Caleb doesn't get a quarterly report card, but is ahead in math concepts and on track for everything else. Zachary is still eligible for sports, with a barely lower than 3.0 average.
Parent teacher conferences went about as expected.
Ryan: talks too much, but is respectful, and easily refocuses when the teachers call him on his chatting. He regularly contributes to class discussions, and in general is fun to have in the classroom. (Wow, what a difference from a year ago! This is why we needed to come back here)
Josh: Is the math guy. (He actually reminded the teacher to pass out the math homework last week, I was there and heard him) He is on fire with the reading thing as well, about a month into school it all just clicked, you could almost see the light go on. His teacher laughs when she talks about him, he is so different from the 2 year old she remembers. He takes class time seriously, and gets his work done.
Caleb: Is always ready to learn. He listens, doesn't interrupt, takes good care of his personal supplies and space. He is great at coloring, and tries his hardest to make sure his writing is neat. He was pretty far behind on letter recognition and sounds when he started school, but is almost caught up now. He knows all his sight words, and loves to point them out when we read together at night.
Zachary: (No conferences for him) When Zachary turned 15 and started talking about driving, we decided he needed to have at least a 3.0 for four quarters before he could get his license. That should not be hard for the boy. We made this decision based on the fact he tends to let things slide one quarter then pull them up in the next, so the semester grade "averages" out. He missed it, by a little. So I guess he will have to wait until after the first quarter next year. He did have A's in Spanish and PE. The things he really enjoys.
